MauBank Ltd employs a range of security features for its Internet Banking services. MauBank Ltd uses the most advanced commercially available 256-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to ensure that the information exchanged between the customer's Computer and MauBank Ltd over the Internet is secure and cannot be accessed by any third party. SSL has been universally accepted on the World Wide Web for authenticated and encrypted communication between customers' computers and servers.
The firewall (virtual electronic fence that prevents unauthorized access to the Bank's servers), together with 256-bit SSL encryption technology, helps to provide some of the best security commercially available to keep your password, account details and other sensitive information protected during its transmission over the Internet.
An Extended Validation SSL Certificate gives customers more confidence that they are interacting with a trusted Web site and that their information is secure.
Communication between your browser and website is encrypted and the certification authority has confirmed the website is owned or operated by a business that is legally organized under the jurisdiction shown in the certificate and on the Security Status bar.
MauBank Ltd recommends following measures to all Internet Banking Users to ensure secured transactions.
1. Avoid responding to mails, SMS or phone calls influencing you to provide your personal or financial information.
2. Avoid sending financial information on emails you feel is not secured.
3. Avoid providing personal or financial information on a website you think is an impersonation.
4. Always note the reference id given with respect to your online transactions.
5. Do not disclose your user id or passwords to anyone.
6. To enhance the security of our internet banking services, you will be requested to change your password(s) upon first login.
7. It is recommended that you use passwords which are difficult and complex to guess. Use letters, numbers and special characters [such as !, @, #,$, %, ^, &,* (, )] in your passwords.
These increase the security of the passwords.
8. In case you have more than one Internet Banking account, use a different password for each of your Internet Banking User IDs.
9. It is recommended that you change your password(s) at regular intervals.
10. Ensure your computer is protected with the latest anti-virus and firewall protection software at all times. Download updates regularly to ensure you have the latest protection.
11. Do not write your Internet Banking Username together with your Password.
12. Do not write your Password in a recognizable format and never leave your logon password and your transact password in the same place.
13. Disable functionality on your computer or browsers that remembers logon details.
14. Check the last time you logged on, if it does not match with your last login time; please call the Bank immediately to report same.
15. If you suspect that someone has accessed your internet banking account, you should immediately log on and change your password. For any assistance, please call at the Bank on +230 4040330 or mail us on ebanking@maubank.mu
Your financial information is protected by the use of a username and password for login and a second password for transaction. Both passwords are constituted of a combination of letters and numbers and special character.
The Bank also provides security token. A security token is a physical device which is used to provide one’s identity electronically (as in the case of a customer trying to access his bank account). The token is used in addition to prove that the customer is who he claims to be.
The token displays a one type password (OTP) that is valid for only one login session or transaction.
OTPS are not vulnerable since if an intruder manages to record an OTP that was already used to log in or to conduct a transaction; he will not be able to misuse it since it will no longer be valid.
The "One Time Password" (OTP) Authentication token adds an additional layer of physical security to the system.
For security reasons, your internet banking session will time out automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity or idleness. However, you should ensure that you log out each time you access your internet banking account.
